Armed with a background in PR and brand management, Larry embarked on his professional journey at the esteemed Miss Uganda franchise, assuming the pivotal roles of PR executive and brand manager. This formative experience bestowed upon him invaluable insights into the intricate workings of the fashion industry, igniting his passion for the sartorial domain.
Drawing inspiration from his late grandmother Nakabuye, a gifted seamstress, Larry Casual encapsulates a heritage of artistry and sustainability. Orphaned at the tender age of 5 due to tragic circumstances, Larry found solace in his grandmother’s intricate craft, as she repurposed fabrics to create bespoke garments, instilling in him a profound appreciation for the art of tailoring and a fervent commitment to crafting timeless fashion pieces. The indelible legacy of his grandmother’s skill and resourcefulness serves as a beacon of inspiration, infusing each creation from Larry Casual with a blend of tradition and modernity.
As Larry’s passion continued to burgeon, his tenure at revered fashion establishments such as Miss Zirian Fix it and Glitz by Nalu refined his acumen and aesthetic sensibilities. These enriching experiences honed his craft, fostering a keen eye for precision and creativity.
In parallel to his professional ventures, Larry nurtured his own creative vision through Larry Casual, a passion project that swiftly gained acclaim. The inaugural order in 2016, spurred by an admirer of Larry’s bespoke kaftan piece, heralded the brand’s auspicious journey. The burgeoning demand for his unique designs culminated in the official launch of Larry Casual in 2017, marking a significant milestone in his burgeoning career.
